How To be a part of your fluid art piece

You're interested in my artwork? Here's My Approach When You Commission A Piece Of Fluid Art!

When I started this journey, my intention was to create a beautiful piece of art for my living room.

I’d shopped all the online home stores, and while they have beautiful artwork for sale, I wanted to participate in the art I hung on my walls. I wanted meaning, individuality, and there was something in my head that needed to get on the wall – retailers didn’t sell that.

This painting, Inspiration, is the result. I wanted a beachy feel with all the beautiful blues but was intentional about adding a touch of orange, so the painting would pick up autumn colors that I also love so much.

I came across fluid art and loved the medium. The acrylic pouring technique allows movement in a painting, and I think that is the characteristic that makes a statement and makes it individual.

When I do a commission, I will first get to know you a little bit. We will chat about what you’re looking for, what color combinations you lean toward. I believe that what we hope to see in our art, is deeply rooted in something from your past: a favorite memory, object, or place. Given the chance to think about what you have in your home, you’ll find that you’ve surrounded yourself with items that remind you of happy moments, chapters in your life, or places from your life journey.

I’ll find clues in your descriptions as to what puts a sparkle in your eyes and hopefully my intuition about these things will help me put the right concept on canvas for you. We will discuss the space the painting is intended for, size, orientation, and whether you would like your fluid art framed.

I will then present you with a color pallet and hope that I’ve got it right. I love the process of mixing rich and unique colors. Typically, my paintings have 4 or 5 colors in them, with potentially more for accents. These would be; 1 light, 1 dark for contrast, one complementary, and metallic. We can adjust any concept or color along the way.

Finally, I will create your painting. I usually test my theory several times, to make sure I’m getting the reactions I’m looking for, but if you don’t like the finished product, I don’t mind trying again until we get it right. I thoroughly enjoy this process of getting to know you and my aim is to have you enjoy it also. It feels good to place a piece of art in your home that you’ve played a role in creating.

Enjoy your journey and be well,
