Find your passion!

I have a lot of people tell me they aren’t creative when I tell them I’m an artist.  Being honest, it took me a while to call myself by that title with confidence, before I simply said, “I paint”.  I think everyone has something creative in them trying to get out.

It may be something other than painting – it may be cooking, gardening, wreath making, fashion, interior design.  It could be any number of things, but I’m sure that everyone has a small child inside them dying to color outside the lines, even if only for a few hours.

Since I work with spreadsheets and numbers all day, it gives me great joy to blend pretty colors and create something beautiful, the painting above was inspired by the colors of Conch shells!

While this began as a hobby, it has grown into a passion, and I find inspiration every day in likely and unlikely places. I wake up in the night with ideas and colors swirling in my head!

I love creating paintings that bring joy to my clients – their pleasure is my reward.   I also love sharing this craft in a workshop of smiling participants.  We laugh, make jokes, and let go – we give in to the creative side that we so seldom let out to run wild.  I truly think my art went to the next level when I stopped thinking of how exactly a painting should come out, and just let go and let the paint have its way!

November is a time to be grateful and I’m very thankful that I have this creativity in my life.  I’m grateful that I have friends and family that encourage me, and also that I can bring joy to others with my craft.  Count your blessings, find your passion, and move forward with it with all the gusto you put into the other areas of your life.  Smiles are easy to do on the outside, but smiles on the inside are true, pleasing, and real. For me, creating art, gives me that feeling.

What makes your insides smile?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Enjoy your journey and be well!

Lori
